These colorful handmade pieces have been expertly hand beaded by the skillful Maasai people where beadwork has been an important part of Maasai culture for many years. Maasai women set aside time everyday to meet, converse and work on beaded jewelry which include necklaces, bracelets and pendants. All of the tribes’ beadwork is made by the women but is worn by both women and men.
Each colorful bead represents a different aspect of the Maasai culture: Bravery, (red), Energy (blue), Purity (white), Nourishment (green), Warmth & Generosity (orange), Cycle of Life (yellow ), and Black represents the color of the people and daily struggles - their unity and harmony.
