These are truly one of a kind pieces, expertly hand beaded by the skillful Maasai people. Up to ten of these at any one time are worn by the Maasai women and are designed to bounce rhythmically when they dance. Known for their vibrant dress and colorful beadwork, each color bead represents a different aspect of the Maasai culture: Bravery, (red), Energy (blue), Purity (white), Nourishment (green), Warmth & Generosity (orange), Cycle of Life (yellow ), and Black represents the color of the people and daily struggles - their unity and harmony.

Exquisite hand beaded formal chairs by the Yoruba Artisans of Nigeria.
Traditionally created for the Yoruba tribe kings and queens and embellished with thousands of seed glass beads applied to fabric covers which are then stitched or glued onto the chair frame - resulting in an exotic chair covered in elaborate beading.
Please note that many of our handmade items are one of a kind, perfectly imperfect, vintage and have indigenous decorative repair work which we believe adds to the intrinsic value and beauty of the items. No two items are exactly the same.
